Steps from ideation to construction
Since we undertake both design and construction, we assume full responsibility on both fronts and our clients never end up stuck between a rock and a hard place, between the designer and the builder. Our design and construction teams benefit continuously from a feedback loop that enables us to opt for optimum architectural choices with feasibility and construction costs in mind.
During our very first meeting, you will have the occasion to learn more about the services we provide, whether it’s in architecture, construction, or one of our eco-neighborhoods. This meeting is free of charge and will also allow us to calculate an approximate budgetary estimate of your project as well as elaborate on the next steps to move forward.
Before we move along with your project, our estimator will calculate a more precise budgetary estimate of your project. In order to do so, we will collect more details about some particularities of your land and the services you would like to require from us.
Conceptual Design Study
In line with our philosophy of respecting the environment, we draw our projects based on your land to minimize the negative impacts construction can have on surrounding nature. Therefore, our architecture team will evaluate your land even before they start to draw the plans and gather various information such as the site’s topography, important views or panoramas, dominating winds and types of soil. With this information and various photos, images and drawings of inspiration explored with you, we are finally able to draw. Your dream is starting to come to fruition! These first blueprints include perspectives, site planes and schematics showing the architecture of the building.
Official Blueprints and Specifications
Once you are completely satisfied with the plans so far, we can draw the plans that will be used for construction and focus on various details. At this stage, you can choose your indoor and outdoor finishes and we will add plans for the roof, electricity, the foundation, details for the stairs and built-in furnishing. In order to help you choose the best materials possible suitable for your needs, a document with all specifications related to the plans will be annexed. These specifications will also help different suppliers submit their quotes.
Official Quotes and Construction Contract
The official blueprints and specifications are approved and signed by you! You can now ask for an official quote from UrbanÉco and/or another contractor if you wish. We like to offer some flexibility to our clients so we either built turnkey houses, or split construction tasks to allow you to get involved and reduce the costs. We also provide guidance and estimates to assist you through the process with your financial institution. If needed, we bring some last changes to the plans, print the lasted version, obtain a construction permit and once your construction contract is signed, we can begin the construction!
Construction and Acceptation
We now have the pleasure to introduce you to our production team! As a general contractor, we can hire our own construction team, who is very detail-oriented, has great work ethic and is very knowledgeable regarding ecofriendly houses. As for our suppliers, they are well-aware of our high-quality standards and they work hard to apply them. Communication, planning and quality control is our motto!
